MUMBAI: The Worli police did not register a complaint in the year's first accident on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link as no one was killed or injured in the mishap that took place because a m otorist tried to avoid hitting a rat crossing the road.
Also, the two drivers involved in the accident were not keen on lodging complaints against each other.
On Friday, around 9.30am, south Mumbai businessman Tarun Shah (35) was forced to sharply steer his Swift to the right to avoid running over a rat and he rammed into a Mercedes that was also heading towards the Bandra-end of the bridge; the Mercedes then hit into the divider.

"The steering wheel of the Mercedes got locked automatically after the Swift hit my car's left side. I managed to control the car before it banged into divider. It was a lucky escape as other vehicles were far too behind," Gaurav Ujjanwal (28), a driver by profession. Both Shah and Ujjanwal were headed to BKC when the incident took place. The Worli police rushed to the spot within minutes on receiving a call from the control room about the incident. Traffic resumed within 15 minutes, except towards the Bandra end of the sea link was partially hit.
The two damaged vehicles were towed to the Worli police station and later taken to garages after police made a traffic accident dairy entry. "The mishap took place right in middle of the sea link when the Shah lost control of his car while trying to avoid running over a rat that suddenly came on the middle of the road," said a police officer.
