NEW DELHI: At least three Pakistani soldiers were killed and seven military posts destroyed at Rakhchakri in
Rawalakot sector of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in heavy firing by the Indian Army across the LoC on Tuesday .
"Though the Pakistani army has admitted three of its soldiers died in the firing, the toll could be much higher," said an Indian security establishment official.
T he rival armies continue to pound each other with heavy mortars, anti-tank guided missiles and artillery guns along the 778-km LoC in J&K, with the intensity of the firing duels increasing after India's pre-dawn airstrikes on the Jaish-e-Muhammed facility at
Balakot in
Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on February 26 .
"It's estimated that over two dozen Pakistani army soldiers have been killed in targeted firings by Indian forces to dominate the LoC, mainly across the Rajouri and
Poonch districts, since the aistrikes in Balakot," claimed the official. There have been casualties on the Indian side as well. On Monday, for instance, a BSF inspector, a woman and a five-year-old girl were killed and over 20 others injured in heavy shelling by the Pakistani army in Poonch. "Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing at Rawalakot sector on Line of Control this morning which resulted in killing of three Pakistan army soldiers," said the Inter-Services Public Relations in Pakistan.
