Former TNCC president Tindivanam K Ramamurthy dies aged 87

Veteran Congress leader and former TNCC president Tindivanam K Ramamurthy died on Sunday morning due to age-related complications. He was 87. Chief minister M K Stalin visited Panaiyur on ECR near Chennai, where Ramamurthy was staying with his son and paid his last respects to the departed leader.

CHENNAI: Veteran Congress leader and former TNCC president Tindivanam K Ramamurthy died on Sunday morning due to age-related complications. He was 87.
Chief minister M K Stalin paid his last respects to the departed leader at Panaiyur.
Ramamurthy was staying with his son at Panaiyur on ECR near Chennai.
Ramamurthy's body is being taken to his native Tindivanam town for the funeral rites to be performed later on Sunday evening.

TNCC president K S Alagiri, TMC-M president G K Vasan and PMK founder S Ramadoss condoled the death of the veteran leader.
Having joined the Congress, inspired by the leadership of former chief minister K Kamaraj, Ramamurthy was very active in Student Congress.
He went on to represent the Congress as an MLA, Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council and a Rajya Sabha MP.
Ramamurthy had kept himself away from active politics for a few years now.
Prior to that, he was the state president of Sharad Pawar's NCP in Tamil Nadu for some time.
