BANGALORE: The special land acquisition
officer (Number 2) of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (
KIADB), Chikkabettaiah, has been relieved of his duties following complaints of corruption.
The decision was taken after large and medium industries minister Murugesh R Nirani met principal secretary of commerce and industries department V P Baligar and KIADB chief executive officer T Sham Bhat on Wednesday.
The meeting was called after a TOI report on November 11 -- `Graft charges against KIADB unit'. Baligar visited the office to get a first-hand account of the complaints.
Another KAS officer, Ramakrishna, working as special land acquisition officer (Number 1), has been given the charge. Since Chikkabettaiah was on a deputation, the industries department cannot initiate action against him. A report has been sent to the department of personal and administrative reforms (DPAR) and the chief secretary on the allegations against Chikkabettaiah.
