KIADB official relieved of duty
BANGALORE: The special land acquisition officer (Number 2) of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), Chikkabettaiah, has been relieved of his duties following complaints of corruption.
The decision was taken after large and medium industries minister Murugesh R Nirani met principal secretary of commerce and industries department V P Baligar and KIADB chief executive officer T Sham Bhat on Wednesday.
The meeting was called after a TOI report on November 11 -- `Graft charges against KIADB unit'. Baligar visited the office to get a first-hand account of the complaints.
Another KAS officer, Ramakrishna, working as special land acquisition officer (Number 1), has been given the charge. Since Chikkabettaiah was on a deputation, the industries department cannot initiate action against him. A report has been sent to the department of personal and administrative reforms (DPAR) and the chief secretary on the allegations against Chikkabettaiah.
