Cops register complaint in Anil Panachooran death case

Kayamkulam police have registered an unnatural death case in connection with the passing away of poet and lyricist Anil Panachooran. The police said that they have registered the case as per the complaint of his wife and relatives.

ALAPPUZHA: Kayamkulam police have registered an unnatural death case in connection with the passing away of poet and lyricist Anil Panachooran. The police said that they have registered the case as per the complaint of his wife and relatives.
The 55-year-old Anil, a native of Alappuzha district, died in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday in a private hospital. He also tested positive for Covid-19.
The police said that the case has been registered in order to find the exact cause of his death. “A team has left for Thiruvananthapuram today morning for completing legal and medical examinations,” the police said.
A lawyer by profession Panachooran got prominent place in Mollywood through superhit songs "Choora Veena Mannil" and "Thirike Njan". According to his relatives, he collapsed in his house in Alappuzha on Sunday and was taken to hospitals in Mavelikkara and Karunagapally before he was taken to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
Before stepping into films, Panachooran became famous through his poems like Anaadhan penned in the 1990s. His song "Vyathyasthnam oru barber" in the film Kadha Parayumbol, is still a favourite among Keralites.
