LUCKNOW: On a day of dramatic developments, that included letters, meetings and dismissals, sacked national general secretary of the Samajwadi Party Ram Gopal Yadav , wrote another “open” letter to SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav saying the latter was “surrounded by demonic forces”. His first letter – written at 6 am on Sunday – triggered the deepest crisis , yet, and his second missive of the day showed no signs of allowing the pressure to let up.

Ram Gopal in the letter said, “Mulayam is my elder brother and political guru and I will always respect him.” Drawing a Mahabharat parallel and referring to the on-going family feud as a “dharm yudh”, Ram Gopal said Mulayam will only understand realities after he is freed from the clutches of the “demonic forces.” Unmoved by his dismissal from the party and its posts, but “hurt over the cheap allegations” levelled against him, Ram Gopal also said he will remain with Akhilesh, and ensure he is appointed chief minister again, regardless of whether he stays in the party.

Earlier in the day, Shivpal had accused Ram Gopal Yadav of colluding with the BJP to weaken Mulayam, Akhilesh government and the Samajwadi Party organization, an allegation he had said was borne out of Ram Gopal’s three meetings with BJP leaders. The sacked general secretary of the SP, however, attempted to clear the air on his “three meetings with a senior BJP leader”. Alleging they were meetings with PM Modi and other leaders to extend invites to family functions, RGY said he was also accompanied by Mulayam and Shivpal in each case.
Insisting that the SP workers should not get waylaid by these unpleasant exchanges, Ram Gopal also attempted to hit back at Shivpal with an oblique “rajneeti ke dalal” remark and said everyone should focus single-mindedly on ensuring Akhilesh’s win at the hustings.
