Film-maker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay passes away

Promising Tollywood film- maker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay breathed his last at a Kolkata hospital following a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday night. He was 45.

Promising Tollywood film-maker Bappaditya Bandopadhyay breathed his last at a Kolkata hospital following a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday night. He was 45.
After he complained of chest pain, Bappaditya was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on November 1. Later he was diagnosed with pneumonia and was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). He passed away around 8.30 pm after putting up a great fight against multi-organ failure.

The BFJA (Bengal Film Journalists' Association) had awarded him with the most promising movie maker in 2003. His second feature film, Silpantar(Colours of Hunger) was premiered at the Sofia International Film Festival, Bulgaria and was also selected in the competitive section of the International Film Festival Bratislava in 2003. Bappaditya Bandopadhyay���s first feature film Sampradan won three major awards in the categories of Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Female Playback Singer in the BFJA Awards and selected in the competitive section of the 6th Dhaka International Film Festival, 2000.
Apart from film direction, Bappaditya was also a gifted poet and had published numerous works including Pokader Atmiyasajan.
