RANCHI: A 16-year old girl of Rania block of Khunti was rescued from a house in Gurgaon by Child Line and police on Thursday.
"The girl was locked up in the house for more than four months and was not paid her wages. She claimed that her placement agent took the money directly from her employers," said Rishi Kant of Shakti Vahini, a social organisation that manages ChildLine in Gurgaon
The girl was rescued after she called up 181, the women's helpline number, when her employers, a doctor couple, were away for work.

Talking to TOI over phone after her rescue, the girl said, "I used to tell my employers that I want to go home. They had promised that they will let me after Diwali, but they didn't. When I asked them again, they said they will take me in December. I then decided to escape."
The girl said she was taken to Gurgaon by one Vijay whom she had met at a market in Khunti. "He was with my friend. He said that he liked me and asked me to accompany him to Gurgaon. He said we would work together and he would marry me," he girl said.
However, Vijay took to the doctor's family, where she was employed as a domestic help. The girl said Vijay also took away her mobile phone which had the contact details of her parents.
When she realised that she cannot escape the house, she sought help from a repairman who arrived at the house to fix the refrigerator. "He asked me to call 181 and I did so. I want to go home," she said.
Rishi Kant said that a general diary has been registered at the local police station in Gurgaon and the girl will be produced before the child welfare committee on Friday morning.
