KOTTAYAM:
Senior Congress leader and
former MLA Rosamma Chacko passed away at her residence near here on Thursday. She was 93.
She had represented three different constituencies for 14 consecutive years in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
She was entrusted with the tough task of contesting from Idukki constituency after the controversial Thankamani police shootout of 1986. She won the elections held in 1987.
She next contested and won from Chalakkudy in 1991 and from Manalur in 1996.
Rosamma had also held the position of KPCC vice president (1960-63), general secretary (1992) and Mahila Congress general secretary (1992).
Funeral will be held St George Catholic church, Thottackad, at 2.30pm on Sunday.
