Need smart classrooms for underprivileged students: JNU VC
Meerut: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice chancellor Jagdish Kumar, who was the chief guest at Chaudhary Charan Singh University’s (CCSU) 29th convocation ceremony on Friday, highlighted the need for smart classrooms for underprivileged students. “You are privileged as you got a chance to study in a reputed institution. In the near future, we will have as many as 300 million students competing to study in 800 universities cross the country.
There is a need for classroom innovation. We need to have a system in place where a professor in a classroom of 200 students can reach out to at least 20,000 others across the country. We need innovators who are driven by values and not by profit-making. We as educators should aim to reach out even to the youth ploughing his field and ensure that he gets world class education,” he said.
The JNU VC also stressed on technology-based research to uplift quality of life of the people. “Pollution is a pressing concern and so is global warming, both of which have been adversely affecting the lives of millions of people across the globe. We must have dedicated research in the field of security, health, agriculture, education and environment to ensure that we improve living standards,” he said.
