MUZAFFARNAGAR: In a video conference with officials across the state on Saturday night, Uttar Pradesh chief minister
Yogi Adityanath instructed police and administration to ensure sacrifice of animals on Bakr-Eid was not done in the open, and that blood and offal is not dumped in open drains, so that religious sentiments of other communities are not hurt.
According to sources, the CM also directed officials to maintain law and order and ensure basic services like power and water supply are maintained in the district, and that protected animals are not sacrificed.
Muzaffarnagar district magistrate Rajeev Sharma said, “We will make sure the CM’s instructions are complied with. We have held a meeting with district officials. On Monday, there will be another meeting between officials and prominent members of both communities about the festival.”
The CM also asked officials to step up vigilance during this period in those districts where
Kanwar Yatra is in progress.
Superintendent of police Omveer Singh told TOI, “The CM focused on law and order and gave instructions that Bakr-Eid was to be celebrated in the traditional way but that sacrifice of animals should not be done either in public or in areas which have mixed populations.” Bakr-Eid will be celebrated on August 22 across the country.
