CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday announced that the government will set up residential police public schools in Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem, Cuddalore and Vellore districts.
He was replying to the motion of thanks to the governor’s address to the assembly.
“A residential school has already been set up to provide high quality education to children of police constables in Chennai,” the CM said.
He inaugurated the residential school in Chennai on the premises of Tamil Nadu Police Academy at Oonamancherry near Vandalur in 2018.
Palaniswami said the government was deeply concerned about the welfare of policemen and planned to upgrade the city police hospital as a multi-specialty hospital to provide high-quality treatment and surgeries.
