PSLV-C51, in its 53rd flight and in one of its longest journeys lasting two hours and eight minutes, successfully places Amazonia-1 and 18 other satellites in a sun synchronous orbit. This includes one satellite from Brazil and 12 from the US
A copy of Bhagavad Gita in the form of an SD card and a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are part of a nanosatellite that Isro’s PSLV-C51 carried to space on Sunday along with Brazilian satellite Amazonia-1 and other satellites.
"It represents a new era for the Brazilian Satellite Industry. There could be no better place than to be here in India with all our partnerships and this is one step for the partnership that will be going to grow. We are going to work together, a lot. Today is the beginning of stronger relations between both countries," he said.
Pontes termed the launch of satellites as the "beginning of stronger relations" between India and Brazil.
Marcos Ceaser Pontes, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Brazil in his address at the launch event said, "We have been working on this satellite for many years. This satellite which was launched today has a very important mission fro Brazil. It will monitor the deforestation in the Amazon region and analysis of diversified agriculture across the Brazilian territory."
Amazonia-1 successfully separated from fourth stage of PSLV-C51 and injected into orbit
The rocketing is a fully commercial one of NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) with the primary passenger being the Amazonia-1 satellite.
If all goes well India will end the mission orbiting a total of 342 foreign satellites, all for a fee.
PSLV rocket lifts off with 19 satellites from Brazil, US and India
India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C51 (PSLV-C51) rocket loaded with 19 satellites from Brazil, the US and India lifted off from the rocket port at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning.
In this mission, India and ISRO, feel extremely proud to launch the first satellite designed, integrated by Brazil. The satellite is in very good health. I congratulate the Brazilian team.
The mission will continue for the next 1.5 hours with PS4 to be restarted twice for the rocket to reach a lower orbit to inject the remaining 18 satellites.
PSLV-C51 in its 53rd flight successfully places Amazonia-1, an optical earth observation satellite from Brazil.
Amazonia-1, the primary satellite, is expected to be injected into orbit about 18 minutes after lift-off while the18 co-passenger payloads, including one from Chennai-based Space Kidz India (SKI), also engraved with a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would be launched over the next two hours.
At the end of a nearly -26hour countdown, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C51 lifted off from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), over 100 km from Chennai, at around 10.24 am.
Payload fairing or the heat shield has successfully separated from the rocket.
