A fast track court of Raigarh has sentenced two persons, including a woman, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on charges of human trafficking.

BILASPUR: A fast track court of Raigarh has sentenced two persons, including a woman, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment on charges of human trafficking. The woman is director of a placement agency in Delhi. The other accused had sold a Raigarh-based girl to her on a false promise of getting her a job.According to police, accused Jaiprakash Triki approached a family of daily wagers in village Chalha under Kapu police station of the district three years ago.
He assured better wages to the said family and thereafter, took the ten-year-old girl along with her without informing her parents. Mularobai and Jainath, residents of the village, had seen Jaiprakash taking the minor along with him. The worried parents came to know about it when they searched for their daughter. The minor's father then contacted Jaiprakash and enquired about his daughter.
Jaiprakash promised him that he would get his daughter back, but did not do so.On January 14, 2014, minor's parents lodged a report against Jaiprakash at Kapu police station.
Investigating the complaint, police found that Jaiprakash had sold off the minor to Gayatri Mahto, 42, director of Gayatri Enterprises, a placement agency in Delhi. Thereafter, Gayatri sold off the minor to work as a labourer.
Police also found that Gayatri Enterprises had been selling off minors and others as labourers for quite sometime.
Police arrested Jaaiprakash and Gayatri on charges of human trafficking and brought them to Raigarh. Their case was heard by the fast track court presided over by judge Mamta Shukla.Hearing of the case was completed recently in which the court foound both the accused guilty as charged and sentenced them both to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. A fine of Rs 5,000 each was also imposed on them. The accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months if they fail to pay the fine.
