PUNE: The Vanaz to Ramwadi Metro line may now extend to Wagholi and Lohegaon airport.
The standing committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday approved a proposal to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the extension that local citizens and corporators had sought.
Standing committee chairman Yogesh Mulik said Ahmednagar Road and Ramwadi areas are growing and people are looking for a strong public transport in the Metro.

Local corporator Sunil Tingre said he had submitted a proposal in May 2018 to the civic administration to consider the extension of the Metro up to Wagholi.
The link to Lohegaon airport is missing in the current plan. The city has expanded beyond Ramwadi which is last destination of the existing route. Authorities should start working on the extension up to Wagholi, he said.
The MahaMetro Rail Corporation is constructing the Vanaz to Ramwadi metro line. Wagholi is on Pune-Ahmednagar highway about 5km after Ramwadi. The extension will encompass Vadgaonsheri, Chandannagar and Vimannagar.
The civic administration has already agreed to the DPR of the extension of the Metro on the Swargate-Katraj route.
