Construction worker booked for killing dog at Vanagaram
Chennai: The city police have booked a construction worker on charges of killing a domestic pet at a construction site at Vanagaram near Maduravoyal on Friday. The worker has also lodged a complaint against a few residents who attacked him and has refuted the charges against him.
The Maduravoyal police have registered two separate cases and are investigating.

Police said that the petitioner, Sathya Seelan, resides in Porur Thottam near Vanagaram. He owned a pet dog named Jocky, a male native breed from Rajapalayam. His neighbour Theerthagiri engaged a worker named V Kannan, 46, a resident of Kolapakkam near Chengalpet for constructing his house.
The complainant said that on Friday, Kannan, who was drunk, killed Jocky by ramming a 3.5-foot-long iron rod into its mouth as it kept barking at him. Neighbours who witnessed the crime, thrashed Kannan.
The Maduravoyal police reached the scene and took Kannan to the hospital for treatment.
While Sathyaseelan filed a police complaint seeking action against the worker for beating his dog to death. Kannan filed a complaint against the locals for attacking him.
Kannan denied killing Jocky and claimed that he had merely slid the iron rod through the gate.
He told the police that the dog sustained injuries after biting the rod and started bleeding from the mouth.
