On World Emoji Day this Monday, Apple unveiled new set of emojis that will be available to iPhone users from later this year. These emojis include a woman wearing Hijab, a man doing meditation, a breastfeeding woman, a bearded man etc among few more. Of all the emojis announced by Apple, it was however the Hijab emoji that caught the attention of Twitterati.

The backlash extended to suggestions of more emojis that Apple should launch

The criticism was not just limited to USA, but people from other countries like Japan too were unforgiving of the move
