With plastic ban in full force, colleges have been at the forefront when it comes to going eco-friendly. Recently, students from Nirmala Memorial Foundation, Kandivali, did their bit towards the society. Students from different faculties – namely BMM, BMS and BAF – distributed paper bags to vendors. They also organised some live demonstrations on making paper bags. Second year BMS student Snehal Sharma, who participated in the activity, says, “It felt great to know that we’re able to do something for the betterment of our society.
Everyone around us appreciated our efforts and that was so rewarding in itself.”

The youngsters collectively generated close to 15,000 bags, which were later distributed to vendors at Borivali station, who sell green vegetables. Sofiya Karovaliya, a second year BMS student, adds, “We can see climate changes happening right in front of our eyes. Taking part in the activity made us feel responsible for the future generations and work towards a safer planet.” Commenting on the students’ efforts, the college’s principal, Dr TP Madhu Nair, says, “Motivating our students to make paper bags brought back memories of childhood art and craft. These initiatives also help strengthen the teacher-student bond. Being an enabler and a solution-provider is always a great feeling.”
