RAIPUR: Air India will launch a new flight service between Bhopal-Raipur-Pune and back this month.
The decision in this regards was taken in a meeting between chief minister Raman Singh and CMD of Air India Ashwani Lohani. Air India would be operating a 72 seater aircraft with three days operations, initially.
Vishrut Acharya, area manager (MP, Chhattisgarh), informed that the new flight would be able to fulfil a long pending demand of IT sector and students community of both states.
Moreover, the new flight would also provide a direct connect between both state’s capital.
Air India would be opening an ‘information and booking office’ in Raipur city for the convenience of the travelling public so that the tourists, passengers, government officials do not have to go to airport for inquires and getting reservations done.
Another major decision taken by Air India during the meeting with the chief minister was providing a direct flight connection between Delhi and Raipur. The proposed flight would have executive class configuration instead of all economy class seats at present.
The Raipur to Delhi morning flight would also be able to provide other onward connections from Delhi to other cities, in and outside the country, said the Air India official.
Chhattisgarh government assured all possible assistance to Air India, including free night parking to make the plan successful.
