Pak melody queen Nayyara Noor, adored by millions on both sides of the border, no more

BATHINDA: India born melody queen of Pakistan Nayyara Noor passed away in the wee hours of Sunday at Karachi in Pakistan. She was 71. Having got the title of Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor had sang poems of legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz apart from many known Ghazals.
Born at Guwahati in India on November 3, 1950 she had migrated to Pakistan in 1957.It was at Lahore that Prof Asrar Ahmad spotted her talent and inspired her to sing. Eminent playback singer, Noor had first sung for film Gharana in 1973 and never looked back.
After her nephew Raza Zaidi announced about her demise on the wee hours of Sunday in a tweet "it is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved aunt (tayi) Nayyara Noor. She was given the title of Bulbul-e-Pakistan because of her melodious voice". Immediately after it the social media gone abuzz many condoling her demise, many prominent citizens of Pakistan took to social media in paying tributes and grieving her passing away.
She was given pride of performance award by President of Pakistan in 2006 and she was also honoured with Nigar Award in 1973.
Phir sawan rut ki pawan chali, Aey ishaq hamay barbad na kar, Kabhi hum bhi khoobsoorat the, are some of her most famous songs.
Her younger son Jaffer Zaidi is vocalist with music band Kaavish.
Noted journalist Raza Rumi wrote immensely talented, humble, publicity shy star. We grew up with her voice on radio, TC and Cinema, her voice shall live on. My all time fav phir sawan rut ki pawan chali. Vocalist Paushali Sahu wrote a song from Pakistani film Aina in 1977 strangely reminded me of Salil Chowdhary compositions. Journalist and writer Azhar Abbas wrote Pakistan' molody queen passed away. What an amazing person she was. Many understood Faiz Ahmed Faiz because of her singing his revolutionary poetry.

Writer and journalist Ammara Ahmad wrote I never knew Nayyara Noor was birn in Guwahati, i wish she was a little more social and we could see more of her in the last few years.
