Andhra Pradesh: Former MP Sabbam Hari dies of Covid

VISAKHAPATNAM: Former mayor of Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC) and former Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari passed away on Monday.
The senior TDP leader Sabbam Hari was being treated at a corporate hospital in Vizag city after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 69-year-old leader was one of the prominent personalities in the political sector in north Andhra Pradesh and he also emerged a political analyst.
Sabbam Hari had tested positive and was admitted to the corporate hospital in Vizag city on April 15.
Hari was in the hospital for quite some time now but unfortunately, he failed to respond to the treatment.
The end came, after he was treated on a ventilator, on Monday afternoon.
Sabbam Hari is survived by two daughters (both were settled in the USA) and a son Sabbam Venkat, who owns a software firm in Vizag city.
Hari’s wife died a few years ago.
Sabbam Hari was one of the eminent mayors of Vizag city and he was instrumental for many development activities in the city, including setting up Swarna Bharathi Indoor stadium, statues of prominent personalities along the beach road and few others activities.
Sabbam Hari, who was born on June 1, 1952 at Tagarapuvalasa in Vizag city, started his career in politics in the Congress party.
He worked as Visakha Yuvajana Congress leader in 1985 and was elected as the mayor of VMC in 1995.
He contested for Parliament in 2009 on a Congress ticket and tasted victory from the Anakapalle constituency.
Later, he joined TDP in 2019 and contested for Assembly from the Bheemili constituency in Vizag city and lost to YSRC leader M Srinivasa Rao.
The leaders and activists of TDP and few other parties are deeply saddened by the demise of Sabbam Hari.
