Mamata to address Munich biz leaders tomorrow

KOLKATA: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who is in Munich with officials and business delegation from Bengal, will be take part in an exclusive Interactive session in Munich on Wednesday. The seminar on “Business Opportunities in West Bengal” was organised by IHK Duesseldorf, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Government of West Bengal, Consulate General of India, Frankfurt and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) on the 5th of September at Hotel InterContinental, Duesseldorf.

The session was addressed by Dr Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister-in- Charge, Finance, Excise, Commerce & Industries, Mr Sovan Chatterjee, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata and Minister-in-Charge, Environment and Housing from Govt. of West Bengal. From NRW Ministry, Günther Horzetzky, State Secretary, Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Crafts of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia addressed the session.
From the Consulate general of India, Frankfurt, Mr Raveesh Kumar, Consul General spoke an on the occasion. Mr Harshavardhan Neotia, President, FICCI and Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group also addressed the session. Dr. Gerhard Eschenbaum, Deputy Executive Director & Head of International Business Division, Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered the welcome address. Mr. Dirk Matter, Managing Director, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Duesseldorf delivered the vote of thanks.
Günther Horzetzky, State Secretary, Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Crafts of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia in his address said that a working group may be formed to take forward the discussions and chalk out a roadmap for closer engagement between the two regions of West Bengal and North Rhine Westphalia. Sovan Chatterjee, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata and Minister-in- Charge, Environment and Housing, Fire and Emergency, Govt. of West Bengal in his address mentioned the several initiatives taken by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) for improvement and development of civic infrastructure, beautification of the city, making Kolkata become cleaner and greener. Hon’ble Minister also mentioned that a number of ease of doing business measures have been taken.
Amit Mitra, Industries and Finance Minister of West Bengal mentioned that the Govt. of West Bengal is organising the 3rd edition of Bengal Global Business Summit on January 20-21, 2017 in Kolkata. The past two editions of the Summit were hugely successful and attracted participation from 31 countries. Hon’ble Minister invited Germany to the upcoming Summit in 2017 and invited German companies for future collaborations.
The event had a vibrant interactive session with German participants and members of the official and business delegation 1 from West Bengal, India. German representatives from Graphite India, Vikram Solar, BASF shared their experiences of doing business in West Bengal. Indian business delegates from Tata Metaliks, PCM Group, Vikrant Forge, Council of Leather Exports Chairman spoke on their experiences of doing business in Germany. The Seminar was attended by nearly 100 participants from across sectors. The seminar was followed by G2B meetings between Senior Government officials of the State of West Bengal and major German companies including Elga Biotech, Boson Energy (IMBY Company), Oerlikon Barmag and others.
