MUMBAI: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has been appointed as the leader of the legislative council.
The announcement was made by deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe on the first day of the monsoon session that began on Wednesday.
Gorhe said she had received a letter from chief minister Eknath Shinde appointing Fadnavis as leader of the House.
With the change in government, a chairperson is yet to be appointed for the council. Ram Raje Nimbalkar of the Nationalist Congress Party who retired last month has been re-elected to the council.
The notification for the council chairman election is yet to be issued.
