Covid-19: Surrounded by armed guards, supporters, Agra’s BJP MP conducts disinfecting drive in Tundla

Flouting all social distancing norms even when Agra and its neighbouring districts are in complete lockdown, BJP’s Agra MP, Satya Pal Singh Baghel, drove to neighbouring district of Firozabad with a huge fleet of tractor trolleys and conducted a 'disinfecting drive' in Tundla market. He was surrounded by a pose of armed guards and supporters and got his act video-recorded.

AGRA: Flouting all social distancing norms even when Agra and its neighbouring districts are in complete lockdown, BJP’s Agra MP, Satya Pal Singh Baghel, drove to neighbouring district of Firozabad with a huge fleet of tractor trolleys and conducted a 'disinfecting drive' in Tundla market. He was surrounded by a posse of armed guards and supporters and got his act video-recorded.
A video of the drive shows a fleet of tractor-trollies carrying 1,000 litres of disinfectant each and the MP holding a jet nozzle attached to a 200-ft-long pipe spraying sodium hypochlorite on the shutters of shops in the town.
The overenthusiastic MP also sprayed the solution on computer systems inside a nationalised bank. However, it was immediately not known if any electrical equipment or gadget was damaged.

After the hour-long drive, the MP addressed the local TV media and appealed to people to follow social distancing norms, even when his own supporters huddled behind him.
Baghel said, “I have been an MP for four terms and MLA while I was in Tundla, and, therefore, it is a political and social-moral responsibility for me to take care of Tundla, as nine corona positive cases have been reported from the constituency so far.”

A doctorate in military science, the Agra MP said, “I studied how sanitization was effective in Wuhan, which reported the first Covid-19 case. Therefore, I came with an innovative idea of Baghel kisan sanitization model. Since a majority of farmers in Firozabad and its neighbouring districts grow potato, that requires pesticide use for growth, I decided to improvise the pesticide spraying system for the disinfecting drive.”

“On my appeal, 54 tractors trolleys -- each carrying tanks with 1,000 litre capacity and 200 ft long pipe with pressure nozzle -- were arranged by farmers. I then used it to spray sodium hypochlorite to sanitize various areas. Earlier, I had used these tractors trolleys for my political rallies, but now I am appealing opposition party members, as well as sugarcane farmers of Meerut zone, to use our Baghel kisan sanitization model to fight against corona,” the MP added.
Meanwhile, opposition Samajwadi Party launched a scathing attack against the MP. MLC Udaiveer Singh, who is also the spokesperson of Samajwadi Party, said, “The shameless BJP leader is happy to take credit by risking the health of the people. Tundla is a hotspot and there are strict restrictions on the movement of people.”
