PUNE: Work on three proposals related to Pune, announced in the Union Budget last year, is ‘in progress’.
Union finance minister Arun Jaitely had proposed that the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata, be accorded the status of institutes of national importance.
The finance ministry, in a paper on the status of implementation of budget announcements made in July 2014, stated that a proposal for introduction of the National Institute of Film, Television and Allied Studies Bill, 2014 has been submitted for the Cabinet’s consideration.

On the proposal to set up a National Industrial Corridor Authority with its headquarters in Pune, for coordinating the development of the industrial corridors, with smart cities linked to transport connectivity, the ministry has stated that a memorandum to the expenditure finance committee has been submitted.
Last year, an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore had been provided for setting up the authority.
The third proposal was the setting up of two new agri-biotech clusters in Pune and Kolkata. The proposal, the ministry said, have been sent for financial approval.
