Nasscom keeps an eye on new home in Noida

Noida: Ahead of shifting its headquarters to Noida by August this year, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) is already engaged with the Noida city administration in upgrading the city's safety and security. Nasscom has tied up with the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar to help cover the city under cyber-surveillance.
The location of Nasscom, since its inception, has been New Delhi.
It is shifting to Noida to expand its campus to a bigger facility.
"We have located 75 spots across Noida which need to be covered by camera surveillance. We have already asked at least 30 companies to put up cameras outside their buildings so that at least 100 metres outside each of them is covered. We are looking for Nasscom's cooperation in extending this coverage," said N P Singh, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar.
According to Nasscom, at present there are at least 150 IT companies operating out of Noida which are affiliated with them, and the cyber-surveillance of Noida streets would be done in collaboration with them.
"We are very happy to collaborate with the city administration and police. We were already doing some work with Noida, and once we relocate, we will get more engaged with the city," Nidhi Gupta, regional head (North), Nasscom, told TOI.

According to Nasscom officers, if each company takes the responsibility of covering at least 100 metres of road space by cameras, a major part of the city will be covered by surveillance.
"While many companies do cover the outside facilities via cameras, it has never been done in a centralised manner. The district magistrate's office is going to provide us with the exact locations which seem vulnerable and need to be covered under surveillance. The coverage of the city under a cyber-security system is going to become an effective tool for the city police for the maintenance of law and order," Gupta said.
Nasscom's headquarters will be located in Sector 126 and will host its campus to facilitate the initiation of 10,000 startups and scale up the startup ecosystem in India. The startup warehouse has been introduced to create a micro-ecosystem where startups and entrepreneurs can work together, share their knowledge and best practices with each other. The headquarters will also house its cyber-security lab. The facility is working actively to promote data protection and develop security and privacy codes and standards.
