KOLKATA: Author Nimai Bhattacharya died in his south Kolkata home on Thursday. He was 89. He died of age-related ailments. Known best for his novels, Bhattacharya started his career as a journalist and spent 25 years in Delhi.
At that time he accompanied many national political figures in their international tours and wrote extensively about them. From 1963 onwards, he shifted towards fiction writing and many of them became instant hits.
Some of his popular works include Memsaheb, Inquilab, Matal, Bachelor, Kerani, and Pother Sheshe. CM Mamata Banerjee sent her condolences to the bereaved family. He is survived by three sons and a daughter.
