DHAKA: At least one cop and one terrorist were killed and many others wounded on Thursday following explosions and a gunbattle near a mass prayer gathering to celebrate Eid in northern Bangladesh, police said.
Bombs exploded near an Eid prayer gathering in Sholakia in Kishoreganj district where at least 200,000 people had gathered, police said.
The private Somoy TV station broadcast footage of a gunfight between police and a group of attackers and reported the policeman had been hacked to death.

One suspected attacker was also reported to be killed in an exchange of fire with police at the blast site as roads along in the area were cordoned off.
This is the second terror attack in Bangladesh in past one week.
Last Friday, five attackers stormed an upscale restaurant in Dhaka's diplomatic zone and killed police officers and hostages before they were fatally shot by security forces.
In all, 20 people died in the Dhaka cafe assault. The victims, mostly foreigners, included Japanese, Indians and Americans as well as the Italians.
