CHENNAI: Veteran Congress leader Tindivanam K Ramamurthy died of age-related complications on Sunday morning. The former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president was 87.
Chief minister M K Stalin visited Ramamurthy’s residence at Panaiyur near Chennai, and paid his last respects to the departed leader. Ramamurthy's body is being taken to his native place at Tindivanam town for funeral, which will take place in the evening.
TNCC president KS Alagiri, TMC-M president GK Vasan and PMK founder S Ramadoss condoled with the bereaved family.

Inspired by the leadership of former chief minister K Kamaraj, Ramamurthy joined the Congress very early in life during his student days. He went on to represent the Congress as an MLA, a Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Legislative Council and a Rajya Sabha MP.
He was also the state president of Sharad Pawar's NCP in Tamil Nadu for some time. However, Ramamurthy had been away from active politics for the last few years.
