INDORE: Senior BJP leader and former minister in Madhya Pradesh government Babulal Jain succumbed to a prolonged disease on Friday night. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was among senior party leaders, who on Saturday visited his residence and paid tribute.
The 88-year-old veteran leader of BJP was first elected to state assembly in 1977 from Ujjain North seat and was elected four times as MLA, three times from Mahidpur assembly constituencies.
His last rites were performed on Kshipra river banks in accordance with state funeral.
Before this, his mortal remains were kept at his residence in Dussehra Maidan, where chief minister and other senior party leaders including MP Anil Firojia, minister in-charge for Ujjain district Jagdish Dewda and MLA Paras Jain reached and paid tribute. Union ministerJyotiraditya Scindia also talked to Jain’s family members over phone.
