INDORE: Senior BJP leader and former minister in Madhya Pradesh government Babulal Jain succumbed to a prolonged disease on Friday night. Chief minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan was among senior party leaders, who on Saturday visited his residence and paid tribute.
The 88-year-old veteran leader of BJP was first elected to state assembly in 1977 from Ujjain North seat and was elected four times as
MLA, three times from Mahidpur assembly constituencies.
His last rites were performed on Kshipra river banks in accordance with state funeral.
Before this, his mortal remains were kept at his residence in Dussehra Maidan, where chief minister and other senior party leaders including MP Anil Firojia, minister in-charge for Ujjain district
Jagdish Dewda and
MLA Paras Jain reached and paid tribute. Union ministerJyotiraditya
Scindia also talked to Jain’s family members over phone.
“Even in unforeseen circumstances, Jain continued working for the organization (BJP) and helped it establish a ‘banyan tree’. His demise is not only a loss for BJP but for the entire state, which cannot be filled,” the chief minister said.
