Flat buyers threaten stir over delay in possession
NOIDA: Home buyers, who have invested in various projects by the Jaypee Group, on Thursday threatened to stage a protest next week against the developer for not delivering their flats on time.
The home buyers said that they would first try to meet the Jaypee management on August 30. And, if their grievances are not redressed, then they would stage a demonstration in front of the developer’s office in the city, sporting black T-shirts.
“If our concerns are not addressed, we will lodge a strong protest,” Markandey Mishra, a home buyer and one of the main organizers of the August 30 protest, said.
Mishra claims to have invested in Jaypee Krescent Homes in 2011. The project was launched in 2010 and expected to be completed by the end of 2013. “Only the ground floor of the 30th floor tower has been built and we have no clarity on possession date. All projects by Jaypee are delayed,” he said.
The developer, however, said the delay was due to NGT ban on issuing completion certificates to 49 developers who had built projects near Okhla Bird Sanctuary. “We are open to meeting the buyers. We will try to address their concerns, but they should know that it is not just us, but close to 40 builders and over one lakh home buyers who are all waiting for the NGT issue to be resolved before occupancy certificate can be given,” a senior official of Jaypee Group told TOI.
