Agra: Traffic movement on Agra-Lucknow expressway will be halted for five days, as Indian Air Force will carry out landing and take off exercise on the country’s longest e-way.
This will be the first official exercise of IAFafter the inauguration of expressway last year (November). According to officials, IAF fighter jets will use the stretch in day mission to horn their skills of using public road in case of emergency during war-times.

Gargi Malik, public relation officer of ministry of defence (Central Command), said, “Total 20 IAF aircraft including both fighter and transport will participate in the exercise including French Dassault Mirage 2000, Jaguar, Sukhoi 30 MKI and AN-32 trasnport.”
“The take-off and landing exercise will be on October 24, but the traffic blockade will be from October 20, as decided by state authorities to prepare the stretch for the event,” she added.
Earlier on November 21, 2016, eight fighter jets touchdown on expressway during inauguration ceremony.
According to Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority, from October 20 to 24, no vehicle will be allowed between mile stone 219 to 324 (Araul, Kanpur district to Lucknow).
Authority in its press statement said, “All the traffic going toward Lucknow will be diverted from left from Araul intersection toward Bilhaur trisection covering six km thereafter the commuters will driver 23 km toward Bangarmau and then further toward Miyanganj, Hasanganj and Mohan covering 68 km to finally drive on Agra-Lucknow expressway to cover the rest of the journey for state capital.
The same route will be applicable vica-versa for the commuters coming from Lucknow toward Agra.
