LUCKNOW: A roundabout near KGMU in Chowk, popularly known as Charak Chauraha, will be named after BJP leader Lalji Tandon who passed away this week. The road connecting another Chowk crossing to Hardoi Road will also be named after the leader.
This was decided by the LMC executive committee on Friday as a mark of respect to Tandon who died on Tuesday. “Babuji (Lalji Tandon) contributed a lot in the city’s development.
Hence, we decided to rename two important places after him,” said mayor Sanyukta Bhatia. LMC also decided to allocate land to Deen Dayal Upadhayaya Trust in Jiamau village and hand over 27 roads with seven-metre and more width in the zone eight, which includes localities in Aashiana and Kanpur Road, to PWD for maintenance.
The committee allowed corporators to spend up to Rs 5 lakh to ensure anti-Covid protocols in their wards. It formed a Covid protocols monitoring committee for all eight zones of the city. It also decided to advise the mayor to write to the urban development ministry to cancel the project of Eco Green.
