Guwahati's LGBT community members walk with pride
Guwahati: The third edition of the annual Gay Pride Walk was taken out on Sunday in the city here with participants coming from different parts of the region and Kolkata.
Over 200 gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans-gender participants gathered in the Dighilipukhuri area in the city and took out a walk around the stretch to celebrate their identity and speak out against prejudices and oppression that are meted out to the community on a daily basis.

One of the main talking points during the walk was the recent Supreme Court decision to refer a 2013 ruling that had upheld a law decriminalizing homosexuality to a five-judge constitutional bench of the apex court.
Gay activists here welcomed the Supreme Court decision and hoped that the 'draconian' Section 377 would soon be done away with once and for all. They prayed that the five-judge constitutional bench would look into the rights of the sexual minorities in the country.
The colourful event also remained witness to musical soirees, fashion shows and debates.
