NAVI MUMBAI: People from
Shirvane village near Panvel in Navi Mumbai carried out a protest against several
dance bars and illegal lodges in and out of the village. The villager claimed these illegal dance bars are eroding the regional culture and putting a bad effect on the young generation.
Once know as 'teachers village' as every house had one teacher, now the village is infamous of illegal dance bars and lodges.
There are about 15 dance bars and lodges in and around the tiny village.
For years, dance bars are mushrooming in Panvel and surrounding area, as this place is close to both the mega cities like Mumbai and Pune. These lodges and dance bars serve hosts to riches from Mumbai who often come here during weekends.
Now the villagers have that each person from the village would write a memorandum to the district collector demanding closure of dance bar in the area.
