Muslim clerics endorse BJP, slam Maya, Owaisi for ‘backdoor help’ to party
Pilibhit: Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Maulana Jartab Raza Khan, the qazi-e-shahar of Pilibhit, along with other prominent religious figures from different districts, declared their support for BJP.
They also rebuked BSP chief Mayawati and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi for “indirectly helping BJP by dividing the Muslim vote bank”. Khan and his counterparts criticised the opposition leaders for the “betrayal” of the Muslim community.
They questioned why leaders like Owaisi and Mayawati didn’t encourage Muslims to join BJP directly if they genuinely cared about their welfare. Explaining his stance, Khan stated, “I am impressed by the impartial governance of the BJP-led central and state govts , which have implemented developmental schemes without discriminating between Hindus and Muslims.” He vowed to expose Owaisi and Mayawati for prioritising political gains over the community’s interests. Responding to Owaisi’s criticism of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Khan remarked, “The CAA doesn’t threaten Muslim citizenship or rights. Owaisi should calm fears by presenting facts instead of stoking division.” He urged Muslim clerics to dispel misunderstandings and unite the community.
Another cleric, Hafiz Iqrar, stressed the importance of bridging communal divides created by self-serving politicians. He highlighted the need to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to portray India positively on the global stage. BJP district president Sanjeev Pratap Singh thanked the clerics for their support, hailing it as a transformative moment in Indian politics.
