AGRA: Five persons, including two women, were arrested for trafficking three infants in neighbouring country, Nepal, by Fatehabad police of Agra from Agra-Lucknow expressway.
According to police, one of the accused is a surrogate mother. The gang was heading in two sedans, when it was nabbed.
Police have rescued three baby girls from the gang and handed them over to Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Agra.

The five accused were identified as Rahul of Harsh Vihar, Delhi, Neelam of Girdhawar Enclave and Ruby, the surrogate mother from Dheeraj Nagar-- both from Faridabad, and two drivers, Amit Kumar of Badarpur and Pradeep Kumar of Faridabad.
Pramod Kumar, superintendent of police, (east), said, “Rahul and Neelam are pimps who used to take women of the National Capital Region, UP and Bihar to Nepal for surrogacy. The gang used to charge Rs 8 to 9 lakh from childless couples and pay Rs 3 lakh to the surrogate mother. The entire surrogacy operation was being illegally run in Nepal, but due to coronavirus pandemic, the gang moved to Faridabad.
On Friday afternoon, the gang was heading towards Nepal via Agra-Lucknow expressway. They had no papers to prove from where the infants were brought and where they were being taken, said SP Kumar.
“After an input, the gang was caught. One of the nabbed woman, Ruby, was carrying her one-month-old surrogate child to hand her over to another gang, who was in contact with childless couples or clients. We suspect that children were also being sold for flesh trade in foreign countries,” added the SP.
