In what points to the acceptance of a casteist mindset, Ashoksinh Maguna, a native of Shankheshwar, circulated a message announcing a reward of Rs 10,000 to Indrajitsinh Jhala, the man accused of murdering his sister’s husband in the Varmor honour killing case.

AHMEDABAD: In what points to the acceptance of a casteist mindset, Ashoksinh Maguna, a native of Shankheshwar, circulated a message announcing a reward of Rs 10,000 to Indrajitsinh Jhala, the man accused of murdering his sister’s husband in the Varmor honour killing case. Police suspect this is the same man whose aide threatened Dalit leader and Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani on Wednesday.
“I announce a Rs 10,000 cash reward for the Varmor honour killing.
This is an incident of pride. A Dalit youth had eloped with a daughter of our Rajput Darbar community. That girl’s brother, Indrajitsinh slashed that Dalit man’s throat and took revenge. I would reward him. I also appeal to other people of the Rajput community to help the accused financially to bring about a revolution in society,” the message reads.
A Dalit leader from Mehsana, Kaushik Parmar that many people of the community called this man on the number from which the message had originated to protest, but the man had threatened to kill them as well. “The person who circulated the message is likely to be linked to the person who threatened Mevani two days ago, as the numbers and locations of both match,” said a source in the police.
