Central Railway goof up: Belapur train from CSMT head towards Bandra
MUMBAI: In an unusual incident, a CSMT-Belapur local train was diverted on the Bandra route from Wadala which led commotion amongst the passengers on-board this local.
Central Railway (CR) runs harbour services on two corridors - CSMT-Panvel and CSMT-Andheri. The route is same for both this corridor upto Wadala. From here, routes get bifurcated- one towards Andheri and another towards Panvel
Badlapur station falls on the CSMT-Panvel route. According to a CR official, "Station master at Wadala set the track for down direction train towards Kings Circle on Andheri route instead of GTB nagar that is on the Belapur-Panvel route."
The train had departed from CSMT at 9.38 pm and its scheduled arrival time at Panvel is 9.56 pm.
The CR official said, "Passengers were deboarded from this train at Kings Circle station. The train was was then allowed to move up to Bandra as the reversal facility is available at this station only once the train moves out of Wadala."
Sources said the the train was later deployed into services as Bandra-Panvel special train.
Since the train was detained for 15 to 20 minutes, other services following this got held up which affected the punctuality during the late evening peak hour.
