New Delhi: While BJP welcomed the arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar, general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya stoked a fresh controversy by wondering why the tongues of those who hail Pakistan and terrorists should not be "chopped off".
"Shouldn't the tongues of those traitors who hail Pakistan while living in India be chopped off ?" he asked in a series of tweets.
He said an ex-serviceman told him soldiers stake their lives on the border while people in the country "hail" Pakistan and nobody says anything.
Referring to his conversation with the former soldier who suggestied chopping off of the tongues of those hailing Pakistan, he said; "It seemed to me he was voicing the thought of all patriotic Indians." He, however, also wondered if such a punishment was possible in a democratic country like India which follows Constitutional practises.
Vijarvargiya, whose comments have kicked up controversies in the past, questioned the silence of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi over the JNU incident.

Can't call entire JNU 'anti-national': Cong
Congress accused BJP of painting all of JNU as "anti-national" and following the course it adopted in Hyderabad University to appease its youth outfit ABVP, alluding to dalit scholar Rohit Vemula's suicide that pushed the ruling party on the back foot.
Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said Congress condemns any "anti-national" act and police can take action against the ndividual responsible but it was irresponsible to tar an entire nstitution. "You cannot do in JNU what you did in Hyderabad, both on the basis of one outfit because it is your own ABVP."
