Aurangabad: The tourists will be in for a visual treat at the world-famous Ellora caves this time.
Aurangabad, the host city of these caves, on Tuesday received record-breaking 58mm of rain in just 24 hours. This worked wonderfully for the famous Ellora caves as the waterfall was rejuvenated. The largest rock-hewn monastic-temple complexes gushed with water and looked even more scenic than ever.
People enjoy in the rain at Ellora caves. The hills in which the caves are hewn, forms part of the Sahyadri ranges of the Deccan. They support several streams, the prominent among them being the Elaganga, which drains into the Shiv, a stream of the Godavari river system.
Tuesday's rain poured more water in Elaganga which made waters of a barrage in the upstream near Mahismati overflow. This allowed the gushing waters to land at “Sita-ki-nahani” near Cave 29 as a crashing waterfall.
