Chhattisgarh woman trafficked to Delhi, Haryana sold for marriage

In a shocking case of human trafficking in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district, a married woman was allegedly drugged, abducted and sold off to a man in Delhi by a woman and her gang members. Before being sold, the victim was raped in Haryana, alleges the survivor’s complaint. Police have arrested four people including a woman in the case.

RAIPUR: In a shocking case of human trafficking in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district, a married woman was allegedly drugged, abducted and sold off to a man in Delhi by a woman and her gang members. Before being sold, the victim was raped in Haryana, alleges the survivor’s complaint. Police have arrested four people including a woman in the case.
Accused woman had befriended the survivor and invited her for tea at her home on September 10 from where she drugged her.
The survivor was accompanied with her 8-year-old son. When the survivor tried to escaped from the clutches of the person who bought her, she was nabbed and handed over to the trafficking agents who again sold her off to another person for marriage.
Later, when the survivor narrated her story to the person she was married to, he helped her return to her hometown. The 23-year-old woman was with her eight-year-old kid throughout the journey fromabduction to rape and return from September 10 to November 22.
Dongargarh police had lodged a missing report based on complaints of the survior’s husband that his wife and kid haven’t returned home since they went for a walk on September 10. The woman in her statement to police said that she was befriended by a woman named Sajada, who invited her home over tea.
“After drinking the tea, I fell unconscious. When I gained consciousness, I found myself in a car along with three other women. Sajada had drugged me and I was asked to keep quiet and they threatened to kill my son. I was flown from Raipur airport to Delhi and then taken to Haryana. A person called Shubham Tiwari who accompanied us raped me in Haryana at a rented room, keeping my son on knife-point,” the woman was quoted as saying.

She alleged that she was then sold to a man identified as Suresh for Rs one lakh. After a few days, she tried to escape with her kid from his clutches, but he caught her and handed her over to the gang that sold her. The woman stated that she was again sold for Rs 1.4 lakh to another man named Rajesh in Haryana for marriage.
“I informed Rajesh about my background and he helped me by facilitating my return home. He booked my return train tickets. After reaching Rajnandgaon, I reported the matter to police,” the woman said in her complaint.
Speaking to TOI, Rajnandgaon SP D Shravan said, “Based on complaint of the woman, police have arrested four people including Sajada. A special team has been led by an additional superintendent of police (ASP) has been constituted that would visit Delhi and Haryana to probe the sequence of events and nab other accused involved in the case.”
The accused arrested were identified as Salman Khan,30, Junaid Khan, 22, Shubham Tiwari, Sajda Saeed, 32. They were arrested under Sections 363, 362, 366, 368, 506, 370 (A) of the IPC. Salman works as a tailor while Junaid activates networking of trade in Delhi and Shubham used to transport women to Delhi. Sajada is said to be the master mind who lured poor women for jobs.The survivor claimed that many women from Chhattisgarh being trafficked to Delhi for marriage or flesh trade, on pretext of providing them jobs.
