Cabinet rejig due, date not decided: BJP chief
NEW DELHI: BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday said a Cabinet reshuffle was due with the exit of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal from the council of ministers but gave no indication as to when it might take place. “We will do it. A date has not been decided yet,” Shah said.
Sonowal was sports and youth affairs minister before he took charge as Assam CM.
Sources indicated that changes in the council of ministers — whenever they take place — are likely to be minor in nature as the ministerial team, which has several members who are new to government and even Parliament, needs to be given a chance to deliver.
There might be some change in portfolios and this would be in cases where there are urgent political or administrative reasons. The decision on a reshuffle may also be linked to some Rajya Sabha inductions from states who might be considered for ministerial assignments.
