PUNE: The Karni Singh shooting range in Tughlaqabad, Delhi, witnessed shocking and dangerous scenes when two shooters broke into a fist fight on Sunday.
Shocking, as it happened in broad daylight. Dangerous, as the duo fought close to the firing points where other shooters were still training.
The duo, identified as Babar Khan and Yoginderpal Singh, were training at the range when they started arguing about the number of rounds one can shoot at one go.

While Khan is believed to shoot along with his teenage son, Singh is a full-time private coach.

"Since the national camp is going on simultaneously at other ranges, only one range is available for non-campers, who shoot under the 'pay and play' membership. There were almost 15 shooters waiting to shoot and the argument started on the number of rounds one can fire," said one of the shooters, who didn't wish to be named.
The fight was recorded by one of the shooters present on the scene and the clip shows the duo kicking and punching each other.

A third marksman, with a shotgun rifle in his hand, can be seen trying to separate the feuding shooters. This was a clear violation of International Shooting Sports Federation's safety rules.
All this happened a few feet away from the firing points and some were still seen shooting in the background.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Raninder Singh called the event 'unfortunate' and said action will be taken against both the shooters.
"I was informed about the incident by my office and I also saw the video. I feel this is unfortunate and at the same time it could have been dangerous too. We do not tolerate such behavior from anyone, who represents the sport. I have asked the NRAI's Athletes Commission to send a notice to both the shooters and take appropriate action against them," Raninder told TOI.
The Karni Singh Range is a property of Sports Authority of India (SAI), which is authorized to give memberships under the 'Pay and Play' scheme. DG SAI Sandip Pradhan informed TOI that membership of the concerned shooters has been cancelled. "They have been debarred from shooting at the range and their membership has been cancelled till the enquiry is completed."
