GURUGRAM: A 54-year-old man was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his house in Gurugram's Ganga Vihar on Thursday. A day earlier, his wife had tested positive for Covid-19. No suicide note has been found.
Police said that the man’s samples will be sent for testing for novel coronavirus too, after which a post-mortem will be conducted.
His family — his son works as a pharmacist at a frontline city hospital and his daughter-in-law is a nurse at another leading private hospital — has been quarantined at a government facility in Sector 9.

The man’s wife was first admitted to a private hospital in Prem Nagar for treatment of ulcer. Her samples were sent for Covid-19 testing after she developed symptoms.
On Wednesday evening, the results came back positive, after which she was shifted to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10.
Police said the man was alone in his house at the time of the incident. He was found hanging by his son and his daughter-in-law when they returned from work.
A medical team from the health department later inspected the area and carried out a sanitisation drive. The colony has been sealed and police have barricaded the entry point.

Cops said that the man used to help out his brother at the latter’s flour mill in the same locality.
In his statement to police, his brother said that the man had been sad about his wife testing positive.
The family said there were no other issues that may have driven him to suicide. Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said the reason was not yet clear and investigation was on.
