JAIPUR: Facing protest from none other than its leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi in
Rajasthan,
Congress had to issue a fourth list of candidates late on Sunday, within hours after releasing the third list earlier in the day.
Dudi was annoyed when the party’s third list dropped Kanhaiya Lal Jhanwar, who was nominated from the
Bikaner East assembly seat in the first list issued on Thursday.
The leader of opposition publicly threatened not to contest the state polls if Jhanwar was denied the party ticket. The video went viral on social media, forcing the party to reconsider its decision and re-nominate Jhanwar from Bikaner East. Dudi is Congress candidate from Nokha seat in
Bikaner district. In the 2013 state polls, Jhanwar contested as an independent candidate against Dudi and finished second, while the BJP candidate lost security and finished fifth.
Congress’ latest list incorporated one more change of ticket, while declaring Congress candidates for all 195 of the 200 seats that the party will contest in the assembly polls scheduled for December 7.
Congress has left five seats for its grand alliance partners in Rajasthan.
Mundawar seat and Kushalgarh (ST) seat have been left for the Loktantrik
Janata Dal. Bharatpur and Malpura (Tonk) seats have been left for the Rashtriya Lok Dal.
Nationalist Congress Party has been given the Bali seat in Pali district.
