Other losers included a couple from Modi's council of ministers, Hardeep
Puri and K J Alphons. BJP rebelturned-Congress candidate
Shatrughan Sinha lost to Ravi Shankar Prasad.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra was trailing after leading briefly over BJD's Pinaki Mishra. Two other ex-CMs who lost were Sushil Shinde and Veerappa Moily. Congress leader in LS Mallikarjuna Kharge also lost in Karnataka. Former BJD leader Baijayant Panda lost after having switched to BJP. Milind Deora lost despite Mukesh Ambani's endorsement.
