Crime branch sources revealed that due to a surge in auto-rickshaw theft cases in Bhiwandi, the crime branch unit initiated an investigation. During their inquiry, the team received information that certain individuals involved in auto theft were coming to the Nadi Naka area in Bhiwandi to sell stolen auto-rickshaws.
Based on the inputs, a police team set up a trap this week and arrested the four men when they arrived to sell an auto-rickshaw. Subsequent investigations revealed that the accused, who reside in Mumbra, Andheri, and Dhule, had stolen a total of 18 auto-rickshaws from Mumbai and Thane. Most of these stolen vehicles were sold to various individuals in Dhule, Nandurbar, Malegaon, and Jalgaon areas within Maharashtra.

According to crime branch officials, they have recovered 18 stolen auto-rickshaws and have successfully solved 12 cases registered at various police stations. Six cases related to the recovered stolen vehicles are still under investigation.
