NEW DELHI: Lokpal member Ajay Kumar Tripathi, who had tested positive for the
coronavirus, died on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest at the
AIIMS Trauma Centre, official sources said.
Tripathi, 62, had tested positive for the virus in the first week of April and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of AIIMS in Delhi.
He was later shifted to the trauma centre, that provides treatment mostly to victims of road accidents but was recently converted into a dedicated Covid-19 hospital.
Tripathi was the first patient to have been shifted to the facility.
"He was very sick. He was in the ICU and on ventilator for last three days," one of the sources said.
The former chief justice of the Chhattisgarh high court was one of the four judicial members of the anti-corruption ombudsman, Lokpal.
