MUMBAI: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor Kishori Pednekar, who recently got admitted to a city hospital, quashed the rumours of her death doing rounds on social media.
Pednekar was admitted to the Global Hospital in Parel on Sunday after complaints of chest pain and pain in the epigastric area (the upper central region of the abdomen), a statement from the hospital read.

However, soon after, a news report went viral on the internet which claimed that the mayor had passed away at the age of 58 at the hospital where she was being treated.
Later, addressing the report, Pednekar slammed the publication and asked them to verify their information before putting it out.
"I am very much alive and taking treatment at the Global Hospital. Also, FYI ate Dal Khichdi some time back," she tweeted.
"I am sure as a leading media group you all are aware of basic journalistic principles. Please bother to verify such news. That's the least one can expect," she added.
Meanwhile, several state leaders including Supriya Sule and Arvind Sawant wished a speedy recovery to Pednekar.
